Hi, I’m Tracie!
Originally from Wenatchee, Washington, I moved to Chicago, IL by way of Lafayette, IN in 2012. I’ve always a deep appreciation for the old, vintage, or historic; whether it’s a home, a piece of Pyrex, or a car. Growing up, do-it-yourself home renovation and rehabilitation was our way of life.
In October 2016, my husband and I sold our condo in Edgewater and purchased our first single family home fixer upper: a Chicago bungalow in the neighborhood of Belmont Cragin.
One evening in January 2017, I created the account @mychicagobungalow and began documenting our house projects and connecting with other bungalow owners across Chicago.
In December 2017, I won a Driehaus Award from the Chicago Bungalow Association for an historically sympathetic entryway renovation project that I designed and completed myself.
I launched mychicagobungalow.com in June 2018 as an ad-free blog to share knowledge, research, document home projects in greater detail, and occasionally showcase other bungalows from around the city.
In 2019, I earned two Bachelor degrees in Graphic design and Industrial design from The University of Illinois at Chicago. My undergraduate thesis project focused on building a community knowledge database for the Chicago bungalow community.
